Fort William Pump Track Opening Day Jam
The new Fort William Bike Park opened during the World Championships in Scotland, the park is located on the site adjacent to Lochaber High School and is a ridable distance from Fort William, Inverlochy, Corpach and Caol. It is also at the end of the cycleway to Nevis Range and has good access to the local mountain bike trails; where there are numerous high-quality off-road routes in all directions making the location a centrally accessible hub for all types of biking.
A local charity community group - the Lochaber Wheeled Sports Society - are spearheading the development of the Bike Park with the aim to construct and run a world-class facility for tutoring and teaching in the Fort William area. With the ultimate goal to promote recreational wheeled sports where they inspire the local community by providing accessible, inclusive and inspiring facilities that enable and encourage people to engage in wheeled sports in all its forms regardless of gender, age, ethnicity or ability.
The park now features an 85m all ability track alongside the 265m long new pump track by Velosolutions, making it truly accessible for all wheels. We sent Dan Griffiths along to capture some images of the Opening Day Jam.
